hermes-bagsA large collection of rare luxury handbags from famous labels is coming up for auction by Christie’s London on 11th June, 2019. There is a large selection of Hermès bags, along with other luxury labels including Prada, Dior, Delvaux, Fendi, Gucci, Saint Laurent, Celine and Chanel. Also going under the auctioneer’s hammer will be a selection on rare trunks from Louis Vuitton and Goyard. Reportedly, the luxury auction house of Christie’s tasted success at its December 2018 auction of Louis Vuitton Explorer Trunk.

The catalogue has graded the bags in view that they were pre-owned. For instance the blue crocodile Birkin bag with gold clasps etc by Hermès is a Grade 2 quality, which means it is as good as new and has no obvious flaws. Just a few minor condition notes, it is valued at £ 100,000.

Since the bags are made of rare skins, the Christie’s website provides the hermes2018CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) guidelines. A bag marked with the CITES symbol is made of or has incorporated endangered or protected species of wildlife, such crocodile, alligator, lizard skins. There are restrictions on shipping of these bags. While it can be shipped around UK or in EU, it cannot be shipped to a country outside EU. There are several intricate guideline, which a foreign buyer can first assess.
