lamborgini-huracaneOna lovely early April morning, 7thApril, 2017to be precise, Automobili Lamborghini unveiled the fastest car, the Huracán Performante at the Andaz Hyatt at Aerocity New Delhi. Priced at INR 3.97 crores (Ex-showroom) the car was first showcased at the Geneva Motor Show as recently as February this year. Clearly India ia an imprtant market for luxury cars, which have done better than any other category. This is the third Lamborghini launch in India.Exactly seven months ago, on 7th September, 2016, the Huracán Avio was unveiled by Andrea Baldi, General Manager Asia-Pacific Region, Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A and Sharad Agarwal, Head-Lamborghini India. The summery bright green colour of Huracán Performante model car at the unveiling was just right for the upcoming peak heat, but Lamborghini offers a choice of 25 colours.

Inspired by the Huracan Super Trofeo race car, this isthe powerhouse of Lamborghini DNA and innovation with combining new lightweight technologies, active aerodynamics and further improved powertrain. It is the result of Lamborghini innovations, producing a super sports car balanced between achieving the best lap times on a circuit with the most engaging and dynamic road driving. The Huracán Performante set a new production car lap record of 6:52.01 min on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany in Oct 2016.

The new entrant to the Huracán family is the convergence of technological developments to produce a car delivering perfect performance. The enhanced, naturally aspirated Huracán engine is the most powerful V10 engine produced to date. Accelerating from 0- 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, the Huracán Performante is propelled from 0 to 200 km/h in 8.9 seconds, and brakes from 100-0 km/h in 31 m.

Here are the most impressive stats.

  • Active aerodynamics “Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva” (ALA) providing ultimate road and track performance
  • NürburgringNordschleife lap in 6:52.01 min
  • Forged carbon fiber technology contributing to 40 kg weight reduction and innovative technical solutions
  • 2 l V10 aspirated engine with higher torque and power output of 640 hp
  • Acceleration 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and top speed of more than 325 km/hr
  • The highest performance and achievements on track reflected in its

Name: Huracán Performante

Commenting on the launch, Sharad Agarwal, Head, Lamborghini said “The car comes with a unique attribute of Active aerodynamics “Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva” (ALA) that provides an ultimate road and track performance. Lamborghini’s core brand values of pure, visionary and cutting-edge technology are well reflected in this piece of innovation and we are proud to bring this car to the Indian market.”

Based on a hybrid aluminum and carbon fiber frame, the Huracán Performante’s body is produced from aluminum in conjunction with significant use throughout of Lamborghini’s award-winning Forged Composite contributing to the car’s weight reduction of 40 kg. The Huracán Performante adopts Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA): ALA is also the Italian word for wing. This patented active aerodynamic system developed by Lamborghini for the Huracán Performante provides an active variation of aero load for high down force or low drag.

The design highlights the active aerodynamics (ALA) and lightweight build that are integral to the car. The new front is sophisticated and razor-blade sharp like a race car, with the design of the air intakes and splitter giving the impression of incisors, reminiscent of a striking snake. From the side, the design is characterized by the accelerating line of the rocker cover with air intakes in matt black, the Italian tricolore colors of the Performante.

The Performante’s new powertrain draws on sophisticated technologies including developments from Lamborghini’s motorsports program. Engine fluid dynamics for both intake and exhaust have been optimized, as has the V10’s air intake system with reduced loss improving responsiveness. New titanium valves allow higher valve lifts to increase engine permeability and performance.

The car’s powerful engine produces an optimized torque curve, with more than 70% of torque already available at 1,000 rpm. Reflecting this, Lamborghini’s seven-speed dual clutch transmission has been also optimized in order to match the increased performance. Active aerodynamic system developed by Lamborghini for the Huracán Performante provides an active variation of aero load for high down force or low drag.

The Huracán Performante uses Lamborghini’s permanent four-wheel drive Haldex fifth generation system, fully electronically controlled, with rear mechanical self-locking differential. The Huracán Performante’s extraordinary acceleration and top speed are matched by the performance of its highly responsive braking system, providing smooth, continuous braking from its ventilated and cross-drilled carbon ceramic discs.

The active aerodynamics’ activities inside the car, is showcased not only through the car’s performance, but from the special ALA graphic in the dashboard display which shows when and how ALA is working, including aero vectoring. The new digital cockpit inside the car display are configurable depending on driving mode selected: Strada, Sport or Corsa, with a display dedicated to the ALA detailing data on downforce and drag. The new cockpit layout supports Apple CarPlay and its iPhone apps including the Lamborghini telemetry system, which allows the driver to record, replay and study his own performance.

The Lamborghini Ad Personam Program enables the owner to personalize the Huracán Performante according to his individual taste.
